My dream world is like a busy theme park of ideas, a mix of past and present moments in my life, the entertainment I consume daily, irregular but mostly fun places, and disoriented conversations between wacky dream characters. I wake up remembering just enough to translate them into my Afrosurreal artworks. I don’t lucid dream often, but I recognize certain things when I’m in REM because I’m always writing down what I recall, even the smallest details, repeating them over and over until they lock into my mind.
That process has helped me create some of my best work and changed how I see and question things. How can I take something real and blend it with something semi-real? What if I exaggerate a true story until it feels like a dream? Every time I pick up a pencil, brush, or stylus, I’m answering those questions. I like to think of it as a collaboration between rest and Afrosurrealism—between the subconscious and the page.
