Aurora
2021 – Present
Mixed Media Video Performance
Aurora is a meditative mixed media video performance that captures a Black woman in a state of peace, challenging societal narratives by portraying calm and serenity in contrast to prevailing stereotypes. Each iteration of the performance becomes increasingly distorted, emphasizing the tension between tranquility and the external forces that seek to disrupt it. This work asserts that Black women deserve spaces of serenity, highlighting the beauty and power of stillness amidst a world that often denies them this peace.
There are five versions of Aurora.
